The Renault 4 was a direct successor to the Citroën 4CV and gestures triumphantly at the car that inspired it, the Citroën 2CV (of which ‘just’5,114,267 were sold); there were 8,135,422 takers for the Renault 4 between its debut in 1961 and its demise in 1993.
