9) Peugeot 205 Turbo 16
1.8 Litre Turbocharged 4-Cylinder | 197 bhp
I’m bending the rules a little for this one because the Turbo 16 shares very little in the way of parts with the run-of-the-mill 205 but that rear does open as a hatch so it’s staying in. The 205 T16 was a 200-car homologation special for Group B – to which it went on to have a host of wins might I add. Power came from a 1.8L four cylinder, the ‘T16’ representing the KKK turbo and 16-valve head, albeit built on the iron block of the standard 205’s diesel engine. It made a decent 197 bhp at 6,750 rpm and 255 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The large rear hatch opened to reveal the mid-mounted engine which in this case powered all four wheels.
